Our Methodology
How we research, verify, and review IPTV encoders to give you accurate, trustworthy information for your buying decisions.
Core Principles
Our reviews are completely independent. We never accept payment for product placement, positive reviews, or favorable rankings. Our recommendations are based solely on technical merit and value for specific use cases.
Every specification we list must be verified from reliable sources. We don't guess or assume. If we can't verify a specification, we mark it as "unknown" rather than risk providing incorrect information.
We continuously monitor product specifications, firmware updates, and user feedback. Product pages display the last verification date so you know how current the information is.
We clearly disclose our affiliate relationships, our evidence sources, and our confidence level in each specification. You can always see where our information comes from.
Sources Hierarchy
We prioritize information based on source reliability. Here's how we rank evidence:
Official datasheets, user manuals, and technical specifications directly from the manufacturer. These are our primary sources for technical specifications.
Our own testing and evaluation of products. We measure actual performance, verify specifications, and assess build quality firsthand.
Information from authorized dealers and retailers who work directly with manufacturers. Useful for pricing, availability, and warranty information.
Reviews from industry publications and professional AV integrators. Helpful for real-world performance insights and long-term reliability.
User forums, Reddit discussions, and community reports. We consider these for common issues and user experience patterns, but verify independently before including in our specs.
The "Unknown" Policy
You may notice some specifications on our product pages are listed as"unknown". This is intentional and reflects our commitment to accuracy.
We use "unknown" when:
- We cannot find the specification in official manufacturer documentation
- The manufacturer has not published complete technical specifications
- Different sources provide conflicting information and we cannot verify which is correct
- The specification varies by firmware version and we don't know which version was tested
We prefer to admit we don't know rather than guess or copy potentially incorrect information from other websites. When you see "unknown", it means we're actively seeking verification.
Evidence Confidence Levels
Each product page displays an evidence confidence level indicating how thoroughly we've been able to verify the information:
All key specifications verified from manufacturer documentation or hands-on testing. Information is current and reliable.
Most specifications verified, but some details are from secondary sources or may be slightly outdated. Core specs are accurate.
Limited manufacturer documentation available. Many specs based on retailer information or community reports. Verify critical specs independently before purchasing.
Update Cadence
Price checking and availability updates for affiliate links
Review of new products, firmware updates, and specification changes
Comprehensive review of all product information and buying guide updates
Conflicts & Affiliate Policy
IPTV Encoder Box participates in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates, B&H Photo, and others. We may earn a commission when you purchase through our links at no additional cost to you.
Our affiliate relationships do not influence our reviews or recommendations. We apply the same rigorous methodology to all products regardless of affiliate availability. Many products we recommend have no affiliate program.
When a manufacturer provides a product for review, we disclose this. We do not accept payment for reviews, and manufacturers cannot preview or approve our content before publication.
